Mary B. Neal ES Holds Parade, Designed Mural
Charles County, MD - 10/10/2011
Mary B. Neal Elementary School kicked off their Character Ed program with a float-filled parade on Thursday, Sept. 15 with close to 850 students in attendance. Each grade level had several floats to represent the character traits practiced at Neal, as well as banners and flags for students to wave representing respect, responsibility, cooperation, caring, fairness, honesty, self-control, citizenship and perseverance.
Second-grade students at Mary B. Neal Elementary School were the running force behind the school designing a mural. After reading a story entitled “A School Mural”, the students, inspired by the book, persuaded Principal Carol Leveillee to have a school mural of their own by sending her letters, suggestions and posters of ideas. The mural, painted by Eric Hewitt, an artist from Ohio, represents Neal’s mascot, programs at the school and students.
