It was originally stated that a juvenile was shot. It was not a juvenile. We apologize for the confusion. It was originally reported to us that it was a juvenile.

UPDATE 2:45PM: POLICE PRESS RELEASE

Last night at 10:21PM a call went out with a report of a shooting in the 46000 block of Flower Drive in Lexington Park. A male subject was shot in the leg. He was transported by ambulance to St. Mary's Hospital. This is believed that this was a result of the fight that broke out in the St. Mary's Square parking lot earlier in the day. Maryland State Police Barrack "T" is handling the investigation. More information will be available later in the day.

On November 8, 2011 at 10:19 P.M. police units responded to the area of Old Missouri Ave, Lexington Park, Md., for the report of a shooting incident. Officers arriving on the scene discovered a 20 year old male victim had been shot in the lower leg area by an unknown suspect.  The St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations responded and assumed the investigation. Investigation by detectives revealed the victim was walking on Old Missouri Ave., when a green in color vehicle, unknown make and model, passed by at a high rate of speed.  The vehicle turned around at the end of the street and upon returning an unknown subject began firing a gun at the victim striking him in the leg.  The victim fled into a nearby residence and called 911.  The victim was treated for a non-life threatening injury at St. Mary’s Hospital and released.

nope no surprise there
Unfortunately my job takes me to that area quite often. I don't think that neighboorhood can be hepled. They don't want to help themselves and nobody ever sees anything when a situation like this occurs. I try to keep my head on a swivel when i am over there.

Anyone........
know how the plan to clean up the Park is working out? Our high property tax is not doing much to clean up this cesspool so the real property owners in the Park can enjoy owing viable property! Apparently the County Commission needs to brief the tax payers on their plans to clean this place out!

So...
Why is a "juvenile" out at 10:21 PM on a week night when they should be home either in bed or doing school work? Their public education is about the only thing they will get "for free" (yes, our taxes pay for it). Too bad they aren't smart enough to take advantage of it. Where was the "adult" that should have had their butt home instead of running around?

St. Mary's Square
It is a sad state of affairs that the Lexington Park Revitilization will include the Square as a part of the program. As long as the Square maintains it problems the program is doomed to fail.

Most people will not visit the square after dark for fear of being mugged and robbed. Surprised thar Peeble's is still there after all these years. Wonder what thier shop lifting losses are each year.

Once again. How come this doesn't surprise me?
Crime is still rampant in the park because nothing is being done to eliminate the criminals. Oh, but if I shot somebody in self-defense (unlike these scum bags who do it for fun or to prove how "thuggish" or "gangsta they are), I'd be found, arrested, charged,sentenced and locked up without bond. Yeah, figures.

And once more, if you knew anything about LP you would know that there were absolutely NO Mexicans in sight until more recent years. The only concerns that I have is the fact that they don't have to speak English, they get free taxpayers money and they don't pay taxes.
