UPDATE:

Shortly after 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, rescue crews were dispatched to the Gilbert Run park on route 6 for the bicyclist who fell of his bike about 1/4 mile in on the trail, fell down an embankment, and had his foot entrapped in a tree. As crews arrived on scene, county employees who were at the park perfroming maintenance headed down the path on gators and located the patient. Crews were assisted to the location of the patient to find him over an embankment and hanging from his foot, just short of the water. Crews went to work assessing the patient, freeing his foot, and making a plan of action to get the patient out. As EMS started preparing the patient to be removed from the embankment and requested a helicopter, rescue crews started rigging up haul lines to pull the patient up the embankment as well as up another steep portion of the trail. Once the patient was up the embankment, they transported him out of the woods in a fire department utility to the waiting ambulance and the ambulance brought him to the landing zone to meet the waiting helicopter. The patient was transported to a trauma center and all units cleared.
