The Partners for Success Resource Center for Families and Schools will present a workshop for parents and teachers of students who receive special education services called Everything You Need to Know About Transitioning Out of High School (but didn’t know to ask) on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM in the Board of Education Meeting Room, 23160 Moakley Street, Leonardtown, MD 20650.

Dottie Powell, St. Mary’s County Public Schools Transition Specialist, will present the steps that need to be taken once the student receiving special education services turns 14 years old to have the best opportunity for a successful transition out of high school.  Although anyone can attend, this workshop is geared toward the parents and teachers who have students who will exit high school with a Maryland Certificate of Course Completion (rather than a high school diploma).

This workshop is free, but registration is required.  To register, please contact Susan Shannon at partnersforsuccess@smcps.org or call 301-863-4069.
