On the heels of a career-best seventh place finish in Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series season opener at Daytona, Rick Ware Racing announced 19 year-old Timmy Hill would make his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut in Sunday’s Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway.
“So pumped to attempt to make my first NASCAR Sprint Cup start at Phoenix this weekend,” Hill tweeted.
Hill, who grew up in Port Tobacco, will drive the number 37 Poynt.com Ford in Sunday race.  He made his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut at Phoenix last year because he was too young to run the season opener at Daytona.  Hill went on to win Rookie of the Year in the Nationwide Series.
Hill is not locked in to the field and will have to qualify on time for the race.  Mike Wallace attempted to qualify but was unable to make the field for Monday night’s Daytona 500 after a parts failure took him out of last Thursday’s qualifying race.
Qualifying for the Subway Fresh Fit 500 can be seen on Saturday, March 3rd at 2:30pm EST on SPEED and the race can be seen on Sunday, March 4th at 3:00pm EST on FOX.
