U.S. Senator Ben Cardin announced that he has received the endorsement of Baltimore-native Charles “Roc” Dutton. The Emmy Award winning and Tony nominated actor and director made the announcement at a private event Thursday.

“I’ve known and respected Ben Cardin for years and I consider him a friend. Ben has done an excellent job representing all Marylanders in the U.S. Senate and I am behind him in his re-election 100 percent. Ben has been a strong champion for the issues I care about most and I support his entire record on behalf of our state and the nation,” Charles Dutton said. “I am especially appreciative for Ben’s efforts on civil rights, including the restoration of voting rights for those who have paid their debt to society and are working hard to reintegrate into their community.”

“I am humbled by the support I have received from Marylanders across our state. Charles ‘Roc’ Dutton has been an inspiration to so many through his incredible life story and the many emotional characters he has brought to life on stage and screen. I thank him for his endorsement, his commitment to our community, and his dedication to ensuring that everyone has an equal opportunity for success,” Senator Cardin said in response to the endorsement.

Born in east Baltimore, Mr. Dutton attended college in Hagerstown and Towson before earning a master’s degree in acting from the Yale School of Drama. He now owns a home in Howard County, Maryland.
