Swing Into Spring at CMH Foundation Golf Benefit
Lothian, MD - 3/10/2012
Swing into spring at the 23rd Annual Calvert Memorial Hospital Foundation Benefit Golf Classic on Monday, May 21 at Old South Country Club in Lothian. Proceeds from the event will be used to support a new community outreach program to enhance care for patients with chronic illness after they’re discharged.
The Transition Care Program will monitor patients identified as high risk and help them take the steps needed to stay healthy after they leave the hospital. CMH is taking this innovative approach to reducing readmissions by improving follow-up care.
“The new program uses customized software”, said Kasia Sweeney associate vice president of corporate communication at CMH, “that includes special alerts to prompt follow-ups when additional care is needed. It also gives us the ability to communicate with the patient’s entire healthcare team about their special needs.”
By popular demand, the tournament is once again returning to Old South, home to the CMH Foundation Benefit Golf Classic for 15 years. Recognized as one of the best courses in the mid-Atlantic, it has hosted countless professional and amateur tournaments, including the mid-Atlantic Tournament of Champions and the Maryland Men’s Open.
“We look forward to seeing everyone for a day of great golf and great fun,” said event chair Pat Petricko. “With spaces filling up, don’t wait to register and remember to invite your friends and colleagues to play.”
The cost is $400 per player and includes a round of golf plus cart, along with breakfast, lunch, beverages on the course, putting contest, an awards dinner, golfer’s gift and prizes for the winning teams. Tee times are at 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Space is limited and early registration is encouraged.
Since the tournament began in 1990, it has raised more than $872,000. Various sponsorships are still available including tee signs, foursomes and corporate packages. “Sponsorship is a wonderful way for you to show your support while also gaining recognition for your business,” said CMH Foundation President Mark Davis.
The CMH Foundation Golf Classic is a four-person “best ball” format with three flights. Old South does not permit blue jeans on the course and golf shirts and soft spikes are required. The event also includes hole-in-one contests and prizes for closest to the pin and longest drive.
Those interested in registering can go online at www.calverthospital.org/foundation or by calling 410-535-8178 or 410-414-4570.
