May 1st is celebrated around the world by many diverse cultures for a plethora of just as diverse reasons. Neo-pagans dance around a maypole in celebration of the coming spring, the Germanic Walpurgis Night ends with a large bonfire sometimes Christianized as Easter fires. Starting as a celebration of the coming spring, modernism has made Mayday also a sign of future graduation. Mid-Century, it became a day of catharsis for graduating college seniors. Expressing itself in different ways, from the Primal Scream at Harvard, to St.Mary’s College of Maryland's own esoteric ritual of students streaking accross campus.
At noon, two men, each in their forties began to explore the campus. Smiling as they waited in vain for the naked run to start. Eventually, they would grow tired of waiting and leave, as many others did. Traditionally the naked run happens at noon. This year, the students planned for a later time in effort to avoid 'gawkers'.
In respect to students wishes, faces as well as other organs have been blurred to protect identities.
