Pride On Display At Park Parade
Lexington Park, MD - 5/6/2012
By Dick Myers
Lexington Park was bursting with pride on Saturday. Crowds lined Great Mills Road and Shangri-La Drive for the first ever Pride in the Park Parade to dedicate the recently completed streetscape project and show pride in the community.
More than 650 participants were in the parade that started at the Bay District VFD and ended on Great Mills Road. The crowds along the streets viewed approximately 50 marching organizations, including color guards from the U.S. Navy and St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, the Great Mills High School Parade Band, Bay District Volunteer Fire Department and a number of businesses.
After the parade there was a carnival and food and beverages available for the spectators and participants alike.
The parade was sponsored by the Lexington Park Business and Community Association.
