Arson Fire Chesapeake Beach Investigated
Chesapeake Beach, MD - 5/7/2012
By Marty Madden
The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating a deliberately set fire at vacant house on B Street in Chesapeake Beach, a report stated.
According to Dfm. Dexter Hodges, the incident occurred Friday, May 4 around 5:28 p.m. Sixteen firefighters from the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to the blaze and brought the flames under control in 16 minutes. The structure had been previously demolished.
“The fire was determined to be intentionally set by some unidentified juvenile suspects after they reportedly ignited some wood and other combustible materials inside the basement of the demolished house,” Hodges stated. “Neighbors noticed smoke and called 911. There were no injuries as a result of the fire.”
Hodges stated the property was owned by a bank.
Anyone with information on the fire is asked to contact the State Fire Marshal’s Southern Region office at 443-550-6832.
