Pax River Raiders Announce Recreational Football Program
5/9/2012
With collaboration of two independent Youth Football Programs in St. Mary's County, Recreational Youth Tackle Football is back in St. Mary's County.
The focus of a Recreational Program is to allow all that wish to participate in a youth tackle program, without the commitment of travel and heavy competitiveness. As you may know, Pax River Raiders participated in the METRO AYF League last year and faired pretty well, and this year plan to continue with AYF with the understanding that certain teams will play in the Competitive Division 1 play. While other families that are not interested in the travel teams still have a place to play at a fun football atmosphere.
The Recreational Program for now will consist of 3 age groups; Ages 5-6 (75lbs), Ages 7-8 (90lbs) and Ages 9-10 (105lbs) with maximum weights for each age group, with only older groups being added if the participation is there in registrations. Travel will be limited to St. Mary's County with fields located in Lexington Park at Lancaster Park for the Pax River Raiders and 5th District (Mechanicsville Braves). This will be a non-competitive league, and those players that are interested in Travel/Competitive play should request the AYF Divisions.
The Travel Teams will continue with the Division 1 AYF League and Travel in St. Mary's, Charles, and PG Counties, while the Recreational Program stays local.
Those that have already registered for the Fall 2012 Season and are interested in the Recreational program please email Harold Berg at paxriverraiders@gmail.com
