Leonardtown E.S. Student Wins State PTA Award

A Leonardtown Elementary School 2nd grader has received an award in a state-wide PTA competition. Alexa Rodriquez won the highest honor, Outstanding Interpretation for Dance Choreography in the Primary Division in the 2011-2012 Maryland Reflections Program.

The National PTA Reflections Program encourages students across the globe to explore their artistic talents. The Reflections Program is sponsored in St. Mary’s County by the County Council of PTAs. The theme for Reflections this year was “Diversity Means….” Alexa won first place at the county level with her dance titled “All Kinds of Dances.”

Alexa was honored by the school board at their May 9 meeting and posed for pictures with School Superintendent Dr. Michael Martirano, school board members and her family, teacher and principal.
