Prince George's County Police Officer Charged with DUI

At about 5:15 Saturday morning, 38-year-old Police Officer First Class Daniel Gonzalez, who was off duty, was involved in an accident in his marked cruiser in Bladensburg at the intersection of Route 1 and Tanglewood Dr. Prince George's County Police responded to the single vehicle crash. No one was injured, however, the responding officer suspected Ofc. Gonzalez was under the influence of alcohol.

A test was administered and Ofc. Gonzalez produced a breath alcohol level sample of .13. Ofc. Gonzalez was charged with Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol and released. The officer is a six-year veteran and a patrol officer assigned to District I. PGPD's Special Investigation Response Team (SIRT) is investigating. SIRT is working to retrieve any data that may be used as evidence. The State's Attorney's Office will review the case.
