Owens, Peddicord Claim Victories in MIR Big Rigs

Bradley Owens from Lexington Park and Jim Peddicord from Westminster came up with big wins during the Big Rig Nationals at Maryland International Raceway on Sunday. Billy Coburn, Jerry Higgs, Frank Thompson Jr and Danny Haynie also scored victories in their respective classes.
Owens put up a 14.901 second/92.33 mph run against Sonny Trapp in the final round of the Big Rig Shootout to score the victory. Owens also clocked the fastest time in that division with a 14.595 second/98.26 mph run in qualifying. Trapp also made it to the final round in the Big Rig eliminations only to be beaten by Peddicord as a result of beating his dialed time.
Coburn beat Chris Lawrence in the final round in the Race Truck division. Jerry Higgs from Lusby won in Tuff Truck with a 14.981 second/87.02 mph run beating Will Liles, who ran faster than his dial. Thompson was the winner in the Super Diesel division while Haynie’s win came in the Heavy Hauler division.
