Waldorf, MD - 5/25/2012
By Andy Marquis
A teenager was struck on Smallwood Drive in Waldorf early Friday afternoon. Police responded to the scene of the incident on Smallwood Drive near the St. Charles Parkway around 3:30pm EST. The injuries were not life threatening.
"He was crossing smallwood and stopped in front of vango bus that was stopped to let passenger off," Diane Richardson from the Charles County Sheriff's Office said. "He walked in to the path of a Saturn vehicle, was struck, injured and airlifted to an area hospital with non life threaning injuries."
The driver stayed on the scene and, according to Richardson, the pedestrian that was struck was not in a designated crosswalk. The pedestrian was crossing in front of a stopped VanGO Bus that was letting a passenger off and walked in front of the oncoming Saturn.
