The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; Special Agent in Charge Richard A. McFeely of the Federal Bureau of Investigation; and Chief Mark A. Magaw of the Prince George’s County PoliceDepartment.

According to his plea agreement, Wood worked for Wells Fargo Bank d/b/a Wachovia Bank at its branch at 7700 Landover Road, Landover, Maryland.  Wood helped others rob the bank by providing twin brothers Darnell Davis and Ronnell Davis with informationabout bank operations, including the timing and moving of money within the bank; recruiting another bank employee to move money within the bank at the same time the robbery was planned so that the money would be easily accessible to the robbers; and arrangingfor the other bank employee to be compensated from the robbery proceeds.  Wood knew that the robbers would be using guns during the robbery.

On January 11, 2011, the Davis brothers and Cortez Maurice Mallory robbed the bank. Two of them entered the bank masked and armed with guns, while the other waited outside in a getaway car.  As planned, the other bank employee carried a bag containing $90,000 to the ATM machine when the masked robbers took the bag from the employee and fled. 

 Darnell and Ronnell Davis, both age 26 of Severn, Maryland, and Washington, D.C., respectively, and Coretz Maurice Mallory, age 27, of Clinton, Maryland, pleaded guilty to their participation in the robbery and to an attempted robbery of another bank’s ATM which caused $28,000 in damage to the ATM. Each of the defendants was sentenced to 97 months in prison, ordered to pay restitution of $118,000 and ordered to forfeit a 2007 Dodge Challenger, a 2007 Cadillac Escalade and a 2004 BMW, which they eitherpurchased with cash or otherwise obtained after the robbery.  

United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein commended the FBI and the Prince George’s County Police Department for their work in this investigation.  Mr. Rosenstein thanked Assistant United States Attorneys William D. Moomau and Christen A. Sproule,who prosecuted the case.
