David Goodwin Named Finalist for Ensign. C Markland Kelly, Jr. Award
Huntingtown, MD - 5/29/2012
Calvert County’s own David Goodwin, a graduating senior from The Calverton School, has been selected as a finalist for Ensign C. Markland Kelly, Jr. Award. The “Kelly Award” has been awarded annually, for the last 65 years to the “Best High School Lacrosse Player in the State of Maryland”, as voted by the Maryland State Lacrosse Coaches Association, and related media outlets.
David is a US Lacrosse All-American and the first Calverton player to be selected as a finalist for this prestigious award. David will learn if he wins the award at the June 3 ceremony. “David is a great player and more so, a great leader. Being a finalist for the Kelly award is a fitting way to end his high school career,” said Greg Zecca, Director of Athletics and Boys Varsity Lacrosse Coach at The Calverton School.
David Goodwin will be attending the University of Maryland College Park in the fall, where he will be continuing his career in lacrosse.
The Calverton boys lacrosse teams ends the year ranked #47 in the country and #7 in the state.
