O'Donnell vs. Hoyer: May Jobs Report
6/1/2012
Tony O'Donnell's statement on May Jobs Report:
"The Labor Department's Employment Report for May is an indictment of the failed policies that Steny Hoyer has pursued for 31 years in Congress. Only 69,000 jobs created and unemployment up to 8.2% sends a clear message. It is time to free up small business people who create jobs for hard working families in Southern Maryland, Anne Arundel and Prince George's Counties. Excessive regulation like the Dodd-Frank legislation championed by Hoyer has tightened credit and frozen potential entrepreneurs in place.
"It's time to change the people in Washington who continue to push for failed and discredited policies that are stealing the American future from our grandchildren."
Steny Hoyer's statement on May Jobs Report:
“While we continued to see the private sector add jobs for the twenty-seventh straight month, our unemployment rate has slipped back up to 8.2 percent from the three-year record low of 8.1 percent last month. While the President and Democrats in Congress have been promoting a jobs-first agenda to provide certainty to American businesses and workers, Republicans continue to avoid addressing serious job creation in favor of ideological bills.
“In May, Congress was able to come together to pass a bipartisan reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank, which is a component of Democrats’ Make It In America plan for creating jobs and boosting economic competitiveness. I hope that both parties revisit that spirit of bipartisanship and work to pass other Make It In America bills soon so we can get more Marylanders back to work.”
