Summer Faire at HSMC
St. Mary's City, MD - 6/3/2012
Unplug those electronics and re-boot your sense of fun with an old-time Summer Faire at Historic St. Mary’s City. Commoners and gentry are invited to enjoy entertainment, sport, and hands-on activities on June 30 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Relax to traditional music or burn off some energy in alively competition. Challenge a friend to a game of quoits, bowling, or watch the youngsters try their hand at Maryland’s state sport, jousting. Let a master introduce you to the art of swordplay and a spinner introduce you to a woolly friend. Witness the trial of a pig thief and the joy of a wedding. Get your face painted and brace yourself for muskets and cannon fire. Find out about some foods imported by world travelers that were all the rage in the 17th-century and purchase samples to take home. Lunches inspired by the colonists’ diet will be for sale in VanSweringen’s Inn. The whole family will enjoy this Faire with a colonial flair!
