Charles County Sheriff's Office Crime Report

STRONG-ARM ROBBERY ATTEMPT: On June 11 at 10:14 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 900 block of Sloan Ave. in Waldorf for the reported assault. The investigation revealed the male victim was walking in the 300 block of Smallwood Drive when two male suspects accosted him. The suspects demanded the victim’s property and when the victim tried to push one of the suspects away, the suspects punched him and struck him with an unidentified object before fleeing the scene. BURGLARY: On June 10 at 11:50 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Copperfield Court in Waldorf for the reported burglary in progress. Officers arrived at the residence and discovered five teenage and young adult suspects inside. Two of the suspects fled but officers gave chase and apprehended one of them. The three additional suspects remained at the scene. The four suspects who were apprehended were charged with third-degree burglary. Shameka Michelle Neal, 18, was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a District Court Commissioner. Two girls, ages 15 and 16, and a 15-year-old boy – were charged as juveniles. Officers identified the suspect who fled and charges against him are pending. The suspects are all Waldorf residents. THEFT: On June 9 at 8 p.m. Charles County Sheriff’s Officer R. Bagley responded to a residence in the 2100 block of Fairchild Court in Waldorf for the reported theft of a basketball hoop that had been at the edge of the driveway. Earlier, another officer saw people playing basketball at a residence on another street in the neighborhood, Chapelside Court. Officer Bagley responded to the Chapelside Court residence and confirmed that the basketball hoop there belonged to the victim. The officer identified the suspect who stole the basketball hoop as a 16-year-old Brandywine boy and will charge him with theft.
ASSAULT: On June 8 at 5:03 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to White Oak Park in the area of English Oak Court and Holm Oak Drive in Waldorf for the reported assault. The investigation revealed the victim, a 49-year-old man, confronted the accused – later identified as David Aaron Wallace, 38, of La Plata – after Wallace yelled an ethnically offensive remark to the victim’s daughter. Wallace pushed the victim, brandished a knife and advanced toward him. Wallace attempted to cut the victim but the victim managed to avoid injury. When Wallace attempted to cut the victim again, the victim raised his bicycle to deflect the attack. The knife slashed the bicycle tire and Wallace then fled the scene. Shortly thereafter, officers identified Wallace as the suspect and found him at a residence in La Plata where they apprehended him. Wallace was charged with first-degree assault and property destruction and was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner.
BURGLARY/THEFT: Sometime between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. June 8, suspect(s) entered a residence in the 9500 block of Trinity Church Road in La Plata through an unsecured window and stole jewelry. Flynn is investigating.
THEFT: On June 8 about 5:30 a.m., suspect(s) stole the right rear wheel cap from a 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe parked in the 11300 block of Stony Cove Drive in Waldorf and fled the scene. The wheels, which were secured with wheel locks, were not stolen. PROPERTY DESTRUCTION: Sometime between 10:30 p.m. June 7 and 8:45 p.m. June 8, suspect(s) shattered the rear window of a vehicle parked in the 2500 block of Old Washington Road in Waldorf. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777 or Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Officer B. Kunz is investigating.
BURGLARY/THEFT: Sometime between 5:15 a.m. and 7:35 p.m. June 7, suspect(s) stole a rusty, blue BMX bicycle from an unlocked shed behind a residence in the 800 block of Copley Ave. in Waldorf. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777 or Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Officer B. Kunz is investigating.
