St. Charles Explosion, Car Fire Under Investigation

The Maryland State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating and explosion and vehicle fire early Wednesday morning in Waldorf. Jamal Barney of Wakefield Circle in St. Charles was awaken at 2:29 a.m. by an explosion in his yard and discovered his 2008 Dodge Avenger on fire.
The Waldorf VFD and the Charles County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and requested the State Fire Marshal's Office. It took seven firefighters five minutes to bring it under control. The fire was determined to be the result of an arson and the investigation is ongoing. The value of the vehicle is pegged at $10,885.
