School Board Honors Leadership Academy Participants

The St. Mary’s County Board of Education recognized at their June 27 meeting the individuals who completed the Superintendent’s Leadership development Academy during the just completed school year.
The Superintendent’s Leadership Development Academy is a year-long professional development activity in which aspiring leaders and new leaders develop skills for instructional leadership. Each participant engages in this year-long study, beginning with a week of intensive work in the summer, and continuing with monthly sessions focused on expectations for leadershi
Participants complete a leadership project at their school site in which they take on a leadership role with a school-wide activity that could have implications beyond their own school.
Those honored were: Candice Berthiaume of Hollywood Elementary School; Traci Chappelear of Leonardtown High School; Alissa Douglas of Leonardtown Middle School; Ashley Fussell of Park Hall Elementary School; Rita Hawkins of Lexington Park Elementary School; Katherine Koch of Ridge Elementary School; Jennifer Martin of Banneker Elementary School; Scott McCurdy of Leonardtown High School; Donna Mix of Park Hall Elementary; Sherry O'Dell of Leonardtown Middle School; Kimberly Plagge of Piney Point Elementary School; Wendy Ryan of Lexington Park Elementary School; Sean Sayers of Spring Ridge Middle School; James Shaffer of Mechanicsaville Elementary School and Tracie Wiesemann of Dynard Elementary.
