Car Torched Near Theater
Waldorf, MD - 7/11/2012
By Marty Madden
The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal reported a late night motor vehicle fire in Waldorf July 10 was deliberately set. According to a report filed by Dfm. Dexter Hodges, the fire caused $2,500 in damage to a 1999 Buick Regal. The blaze occurred shortly before 11 p.m. on Mall Circle, Waldorf in a movie theater parking lot. No injuries were reported.
“The fire was determined to be incendiary due to an unknown suspect setting fire to the interior of the vehicle as it was parked in the movie theater parking lot,” Hodges stated.
The fire was discovered by a citizen. Five volunteers from Waldorf were dispatched to the one-alarm blaze and brought the flames under control in five minutes.
No suspect has been arrested. Anyone with information on the blaze is asked to call the Maryland Fire Marshal’s Southern Region office at 443-550=6820.
