UPDATE:Fire Crews Fighting Large Brush Fire in Leonardtown

UPDATE:

A homeowner called 911 to report they can see a column of smoke behind their residence. Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at 4:06 p.m. to the St. Andrews Church Road, Fairgrounds Road intersection.

The first arriving unit requested additional brush units and tankers to help fight the reported 2 acre fire and EMS for medical.

In addition to fire units from every department in St. Mary’s county, brush units came from Charles and Calvert.

The Emergency Communications Center requested all available volunteer members report to their respective stations at 5:09 p.m.

Fire units began returning to service at 8:29 p.m. and the scene turned over to Forestry and the homeowner at 9:22 p.m.

Fire crews from Calvert, Charles and St. Mary's Counties have been called out to respond to a brush fire at St. Andrews Church Road and Fairgrounds Road in Leonardtown. The fire is believed to be around three to four acres.
All fire companies from St. Mary's County are on the scene as well as fire crews from Calvert County. Charles County fire crews have been requested.
