Local Artist Nancy Owens Exhibits at Gallery in Civista Medical Center
7/13/2012
The Charles County Arts Alliance presents local artist Nancy Owens with a collection of still lifes and landscapes, in its newly re-opened gallery in the Civista Medical Center, located near the lobby of the La Plata hospital. The exhibit will be on display through August 2012.
Diane Rausch, president of the Charles County Arts Alliance, said, "It is wonderful having an artistic presence at Civista again after a hiatus while renovations were being conducted at the hospital. The gallery space has always been popular with local artists and we expect to showcase the talents of many of them in the coming months! Nancy's beautiful paintings are the perfect kick-off for the re-opening of this gallery."
Following retirement from her career at the Naval Base in Indian Head, Owens took painting classes from various local groups and national organizations in oils, acrylics, watercolor, and pen and ink. One of her favorite artistic experiences was having her Christmas ornament selected to decorate the 2004 White House Christmas tree. In addition, she painted a book representing the state of Maryland that was featured as an ornament for the Library of Congress Christmas tree. She has won many awards, including Best of Show at the Charles County Fair and the Clark Senior Center. For more information, visit www.charlescountyarts.org.
