The first Southern Maryland Sun & Music Festival was held at the Calvert County Fairgrounds July 14 – 15, 2012.

The two day event brought musicians like Suzy Estrada, No Green Jelly Beenz and twelve other bands including The Fabulous Thunderbirds.

The festival also included wine tasting from five local wineries such as Port of Leonardtown Winery and Cove Point Winery.

While weather may have been a factor for Saturday’s turnout, Sunday was a different story. The threat of rain was much later in the day.

The event was designed to support the following charities:

Calvert Hospice, End Hunger in Calvert County, Marines Helping Marines.  Marine Corp League Detachment 544, Hunter's Heroes, Project ECHO, United Way of Calvert Co., Greenwell Foundation, Calvert Animal Welfare League and the Humane Society of Calvert County.
