North Point student named winner in 2012 county fair art contest

Maria Estevez, a North Point High School student, is the overall winner of the 2012 Charles County Fair art contest. Her artwork will be displayed as the cover of the upcoming Charles County Fair Guide. She was chosen in July as this year’s winner by the Charles County Fair Board and Charles County Public Schools.
The following students were named overall winners in their grades for their artwork produced during the 2011-12 school year:
- Garrett Simmons, T.C Martin Elementary School;
- Dawson Ethington, J.C. Parks Elementary School;
- Renee Bunn, Parks;
- Zariah Gray, Parks;
- Jaxson Vayro, Parks;
- Mikayla Johnson, Dr. Thomas L. Higdon Elementary School;
- Mackenzie Higdon, Milton M. Somers Middle School;
- Mirian Miralda-Cantoral, Somers;
- Kylie Mindick, Somers;
- Desiree Sutton, Westlake High School;
- Maria Estevez, North Point;
- Kaneisha Brightwell, Westlake; and
- Reahsmiey Steven Chheng, Westlake.
Teachers from each school selected one winner per grade level during the 2011-12 school year for the contest. One student is then chosen as the overall winner for their grade level in June.
