Stolen Car Fire Under Investigation
Lexington Park, MD - 8/7/2012
By Dick Myers
The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fire that caused damage to a car parked at a Lexington Park motel. The fire that was reported Monday night caused $1,000 damage to a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria that had been reported stolen on August 3. The vehicle was owned by Charles Hall.
The fire was discovered by the manager of the A&E Motel. It took four firefighters from the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department just a minute to bring the fire under control.
The fire was investigated by Deputy Fire Marshall Dexter Hodges. He reports that the fire was “incendiary due to a suspect intentionally setting fire to the interior of the vehicle.” Hodges reports, “The suspect fled the scene after the fire and could have been injured during the commission of this crime.”
Anyone with information of the fire can contact the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office at 443-550-6820.
