Motor Vehicle Collision On Northbound Md. Rt. 4

On August 16 at 11:09 a.m. units from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle collision on northbound Md. Rt. 4 just north of Broomes Island Road in Prince Frederick. 

Upon arrival, deputies determined from witnesses that a blue Toyota passenger vehicle was being operated in an erratic manner while heading southbound on Md. Rt. 4.  The Toyota then entered the grassy area of the median and lost control. 

The vehicle spun sideways and continued across northbound Md. Rt. 4 and was struck by a Buick sedan.  Both vehicles then came to rest on the northbound shoulder of Md. Rt. 4.

The driver of the Toyota, identified as Melissa Sue Wathen, 30 of Hollywood, and the driver of the Buick, Mary Dove, 72 of Lusby, were both transported via MSP Trooper 7 Helicopter to PG Shock Trauma Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is being investigated by DFC J. Bell.Wathen will be cited for numerous traffic violations.
