SLIDESHOW: Race Weekend in Maryland
Baltimore, MD - 9/3/2012
By Andy Marquis
Labor Day Weekend in Maryland means the Grand Prix of Baltimore, the once a year race in the streets of Downtown Baltimore. This year marked the second year the event was held, and Baltimore put on a show that set the IZOD IndyCar Series up for an epic season finale in Southern California.
The main act was the IZOD IndyCar Series, a race that Ryan Hunter-Reay needed to win to keep up with Will Power in the race for the championship. Power, the defending winner, started on the pole. However, a unique set of circumstances allowed Hunter-Reay to win the race.
In all, the main event featured nine cautions for 24 laps. The American Le Mans Series also raced.
