Blue Crabs Get Another Walk-Off Win
Waldorf, MD - 9/5/2012
By Brian Radie
The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs are gaining a real reputation this season for thrilling walk off ins. Tuesday night was their eighth walk off win which ties the franchise record for most in a season, and it came a little unconventionally. In the bottom of the tenth, a wild pitch by Leo Rosales scored Kevin Rios for the game winner, 3-2.
Rosales (3-2) received the loss in the wild finish as he gave up 1 run on 2 hits through 1 1/3 inning pitched. The inning started with a Kevin Rios reaching on single. He was then moved to third on a Mike Daniel single. Then as Brian Barton came up to bat, the wild pitch from Rosales sailed all the way to the back stop and Rios quickly made his way home.
Blue Crabs starter Matthew Vasquez had another stellar outing but was not able to register a win. Through 7 2/3 innings pitched, Vasquez only allowed 2 runs on 3 hits. He struck out 4 and walked 2.
Deinys Suarez picked up his fourth win of the season as he pitched a scoreless 10th inning. He gave up no hits, struck out 1 and walked 1.
The Blue Crabs (30-21, 59-61) go for three in a row against the Riversharks (22-29, 56-63) Wednesday night with a first pitch scheduled for 7:05 pm at Regency Furniture Stadium. Tomorrow is Health Care Professionals Appreciation, and is the third game of this eight game home stand. Tickets are available in advance by going towww.somdbluecrabs.com.
