That Doggone Tiki Bar Family Fun Day is one of the annual end-of-season events that draw crowds to the legendary Solomon's Island watering hole. With perfect weather the two, and four-legged crowds flocked to the midway next to the bar to visit with about three dozen local rescue groups and vendors of dog related and other items.

A number of contests were held, including look-alike and best dressed. And with Halloween fast approaching, many people went all out for both themselves and their dogs.

It was a good place not only to view an assortment of mixed breeds, but also many pure bred dogs ranging from the typical Labs, Goldens and Cockers, to a more rare (for Southern Maryland) Bedlington Terrier and several Newfoundlands. Of course the sizes ranged from Min Pins to some rather large Great Danes. Calvert K-9 Search and Rescue also put on a demonstration.

Mary Beth Gates of Pepper’s Pet Pantry coordinates the event with the Tiki Bar.
