Walden Holds Second Recovery Discovery Walk
Leonardtown, MD - 10/28/2012
By Dick Myers
“This is going to be the year for Walden,” said Executive Director Kathleen O’Brien as the agency enters its 40th year. Walden supplies substance abuse treatment and mental health and recovery support.
O’Brien’s remarks were held at the start of Walden’s 2nd Annual Recovery Discovery Walk Saturday at the Leonard Hall Recreation Center in Leonardtown. O’Brien noted the approach of Hurricane Sandy by saying, “For those families who have weathered a lot of storms, Walden is there for you.”
Walden Community Engagement Manager Laura Webb pointed out at the beginning of the walk that the purpose was “to celebrate all experiences in the big tent of recovery.” After the walk participants were allowed to share their experiences for those assembled.
The walk was sponsored by Cherry Cove Land Development, CSC Applied Technologies, Maryland AARP, Old Line Bank, Wyle and Barefoot Graphics. More information about Walden can be found at their website www.waldensierra.org
