Voters Line Up in Calvert
Prince Frederick, MD - 11/1/2012
By Marty Madden
After being rudely interrupted for two days by Hurricane Sandy, early voting has resumed in Calvert County and poll watchers report activity is busier than it was on opening day.
On Halloween ballot-casters waited an average of 20 minutes inside the Community Resources Building on Duke Street in Prince Frederick.
During the midday hours, Lusby resident and Republican congressional candidate Anthony J. “Tony” O’Donnell arrived to vote. O’Donnell, who is challenging longtime incumbent Congressman Steny H. Hoyer, shook hands with poll workers from both parties and chatted in line with fellow voters as the line snaked its way through the halls of the Election Board office.
Calvert’s election crew has made it a point to pause and applaud first-time voters.
Friday, Nov. 2 is the final day for early voting in Maryland. The polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
