Ridge man charged with DWI, weapons, drug violations

The St. Mary’s County Emergency Communications Center broadcast a lookout on October 13 for a vehicle being driven by a male subject armed with a gun in the area of Flat Iron Road in Great Mills, Maryland. Corporal Connelly located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. After observing the driver, identified as Kenneth Allen Woodburn, 29, of Ridge, Corporal Connelly suspected Woodburn of driving under the influence of alcohol. Woodburn failed to satisfactorily complete field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest.

Corporal Connelly then searched Woodburn and found a smoking device containing suspected marijuana residue. During a search of Woodburn’s vehicle, four firearms were located. One of the firearms appeared to be a long gun modified to appear and function as a handgun. Woodburn was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center by Corporal Connelly. He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Suspended, Possession Controlled Dangerous Substance – Marijuana and Possession Paraphernalia, Possession Unregistered Rifle/Shotgun, Concealment: Dangerous Weapon, Handgun in Vehicle.
