Customers came out early Thursday, Nov. 21 to celebrate a new store in Calvert County. Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores opened to customers after a short ribbon-cutting ceremony. The store is located in the Fox Run Shopping Center, Prince Frederick.

Craig Heinitz, the district team leader for the Washington, DC area said the popular fabric and craft retailer has 16 stores in the Metropolitan area.

Heinitz presented a check to Calvert Elementary School (CES) Principal Kim Harris as part of Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores traditional support for the education community where their shops are located. Harris told the gathering that the Jo-Ann grant will be used to improve CES technology.

Store manager Samantha Svara said the Prince Frederick location currently has 35 employees.

The new store’s grand opening celebration continues through Saturday, Nov. 23 with Teacher Appreciation Day discounts in effect throughout the day.
