Traffic Stop Reveals Rolling Arsenal

At 4:15 p.m. Jan. 1, Trooper Wiersma was on routine patrol traveling northbound Route 301, north of Smallwood Drive, when he observed a Chevrolet Van traveling in front of him with expired registration plates. The trooper conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. While making contact with the driver, Ashley H. Moore, 25, of Lansing, Michigan, appeared very nervous. Tpr. Wiersma observed a black case on the floorboard, and asked the driver if there was anything inside the vehicle that she should be concerned about. Moore stated there were two guns by the seat, but they were registered. A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed the following weapons: Smith and Wesson .22 cal handgun, empty magazine, Stoeger .45 cal handgun, Heritage Rough Rider .22 cal handgun, with extra revolver cylinder, Eastern Arms .38 cal., a double edged Shanghi Shadow bowie style knife, a Smith and Wesson 357 magnum handgun, Colt Anaconda .44 magnum handgun, Rossi Cyclops 357 Magnum handgun, Desert Eagle 9mm handgun, with empty magazine, Kimber Pro Carry .45 Cal handgun with three empty magazines, and a bag containing numerous illegal fireworks. A large duffel bag and a military type ammunition can was also found that contained numerous boxes of various types of ammunition. Moore was placed under arrest for possession of concealed deadly weapons. Moore was transported to the Charles County Detention Center for processing. |
