A pair of men in a car going 115 mph went flying past Troopers with radar guns on Route 235 near Pegg Road in Lexington Park at 12:35 a.m. Saturday morning.

Seconds later, before police even began to pursue, the driver lost control and slammed into a power pole in front of Park Dodge.

The car was nearly sliced in half, and the pole was snapped like a matchstick, with the top left hanging from the wires.

Both men were trapped in the car and had to be cut free by volunteer firefighters. One of the men was reportedly 25 years old.

Two Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad ambulances took the men to St. Mary’s Hospital.
