Riders Identified in Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Calvert

At 12:49 a.m. April 19, a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle, being driven by Eugene R. Kay, Jr., 37 of Lusby, was northbound on Rousby Hall Road in Lusby when it left the roadway and struck a small tree.

Kay and occupant Amanda M. Lorenzo, 28 of Ashburn, Va., were both ejected from the vehicle. Both occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is under investigation by Cpl. Gary M. Shrawder of the CCSO Crash Reconstruction Unit.

Me and my g/f rode past literally minutes after it happened. emergency crews had just gotten there.

Anyone know who they were, or at least what type of bikes? I heard they had "tiki stamps" on their hands. hopefully that wasn't the case, I really hope so.

I heard that they had stamps, too, and my sources are very reliable. My condolences to the grieving families. Very sad indeed.

Honestly what does it matter if they had the stamp or not? If they were riding drunk, it is their fault and theirs alone. When you sign up as a DD you still had to get the stamp. All I am trying to point out that people need to stand up and place the responsibility on the person that caused this. Either way, whether drunk or not, the fault will fall on the driver and not the weekend festivities.

not sure if it will be posted on here but there apparently was another motorcycle accident Friday somewhere in between Coster Rd. and the Solomons Firehouse. i was TOLD, a GSX-R 1000 doing triple digits went into a ditch.

I'm a part of a Honda CBR forum and this is getting much too frequent. Too many people wrecking, some for good, far too early in the season.

I don't understand the need to point out that they had Tiki stamps on their hands. The police officers do their best to catch as many drunk drivers as possible, but at the end of the day it is the driver's choice is they drive intoxicated. I know that there is no proof to that yet, but by everyone saying they had the stamps on their hands, they are making it seem that way. If it was any other bar...no one would make the fuss about where they came from.

a google search shows that there is an Amanda Lorenzo as a 3rd Grade Teacher in Loudon County/Ashburn area.... sure hope it's not a teacher.

She was a third grade teacher in Loudoun County. We had a rough day with the students today, she will be missed.

Please keep her family...including our school family in your prayers.

We didn't know Gene, but know that she was happy to be able to spend time with him. Our prayers are with his family.

I was simply mentioning that they had tiki stamps on their hands. if it were Catamarans stamps, Solomons Pier stamps, or hell....Applebees stamps I would have said the same damn thing.

I'm not blaming the establishment whatsoever....its the drivers fault 110%. Are you perhaps offended that I put your #1 favorite bar in the comment? Why get insulted by something so simple. All it was, was a general statement that they had more than likely come from the Tiki bar, be it intoxicated or as a DD.

Actually the accident was a couple hours after the tiki bar closed, so they weren't coming from there, they were coming from somewhere else.

Details
I work with one of the fire personel who responded to this wreck. The details are gorey. They did in fact have the stamps on their hands. High rates of speed were apparent. Just send your thoughts and prayers to this womans children and family.

I too heard this was a gory scene. Nobody should have to die like that and no one should have to see that kind of trauma.

We all need to pray for the victims, the victims families and friends. As well as the police and rescue personal who were on the scene of the accident.

Please keep all of them in your thoughts!
