Operation Most Wanted Weekend Nets a lot of Criminals UPDATE

On Saturday, Aug. 23, the jig was up for a number of wanted individuals in St. Mary’s County.

 St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office in cooperation with the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack, Maryland State Police Homeland Security & Intelligence Bureau and the United States Marshall’s Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force joined forces to conduct a countywide warrant initiative codenamed, “Operation Most Wanted Weekend”.  The joint operation consisted of 30 troopers, 30 deputies and St. Mary’s County Correction’s personnel. The operation was also supported by civilian personnel from both organizations with Sheriff Timothy Cameron and Lieutenant Michael Thompson maintaining operational command.

 10, three-man and 13, two-man teams attempted warrants services on over 200 active warrants.  All warrants were pre-screened by the Sheriff’s Office, MSP Barrack personnel and members of the Southern Maryland Intelligence Center (SMIC) along with Maryland Coordination and Analysis Center (MCAC) to identify wanted individuals still residing in St. Mary’s County.

 Over 400 residences were visited resulting in 25 warrant apprehensions.  Maryland State Police personnel served a total of 13 Leonardtown Barrack open warrants while Deputies from the St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Office served 12 open warrants.  Maryland State Police personnel also arrested three subjects for the unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous substance, recovered one stolen registration plate and arrested two subjects for Driving While Intoxicated.  Of the individuals arrested, TFC M. Davis of the Washington Area Vehicle Enforcement Task Force Team dubbed WAVE, utilizing the mobile tag reader, located and subsequently arrested one individual for the possession of a stolen registration plate.  The individual arrested was also found to be in the possession of a large quantity of crack cocaine.

 Individuals arrested were processed at the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Mobile Command Post located in Lexington Park.  Members of the Southern Maryland Intelligence Center performed extensive debriefings on all individuals arrested.  Maryland State Police Trooper Seven was on standby for this operation but was not utilized.

Sheriff Cameron and Lt. Thompson would like to thank the St. Mary’s County Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #7, for providing dinner for everyone assigned to the operation.  In addition, Sheriff Cameron and Lt. Thompson would like to thank Cherry Cove Builders for the use of their parking lot and facility.

Shorter, Marcus Devon – 20 of Ridge, Md. – Possession of Marijuana Warrant
Aud, Sara Colleen – 19 of Hollywood, Md. – Second Degree Assault Warrant
Bond, Brian David – 37 of Leonardtown, Md. – Child Support Warrant
Quade, William Lee – 24 of Bushwood, Md. – Child Support Warrant
Smithers, Aaron William – 28 of California, Md. – Motor Vehicle/Unlawful Taking Warrant
Rae, Lindsay Kirby – 25 of Lexington Park, Md. – Burglary 1st Degree Warrant
Gaines, Bruce Jerome – 53 of Lusby, Md. – Animal Cruelty Warrant
Chase, Jonathan Litee – 34 of Mechanicsville, Md. – Child Support Warrant
