Two Arrested for Assault in Lexington ParkLEXINGTON PARK - 11/15/2008
On Sunday, Nov. 09, Dep. Shawn Cathcart responded to Yorktown Road and Suwanne Place in Lexington Park for a report of an assault in progress involving a knife. At that time, the sheriff’s lookout information broadcast was for a black male wearing a green jacket. As Cathcart approached the scene, he observed two black males, both wearing green jackets, running from the area. He observed what he believed to be knives sticking out of both suspect's front pockets. Cathcart ordered the subjects to stop and lay on the ground. Antonio O'Brian Harris, 18 of Lexington Park, complied. Harris was secured by Cathcart. However, the other male, 16 of Lexington Park, approached the deputy. Cathcart continued to order the juvenile to stop and to lay on the ground. The juvenile refused. At that point, the juvenile was placed on the ground and secured by Cathcart. Once both suspects were secure, Cathcart performed a pat down of both subjects. The pat down revealed both subjects were in possession of box cutters. Further investigation and witness statements revealed Harris and the juvenile were chasing two subjects, believed to be victims from Yorktown Road onto Suwanne Place. Harris and the juvenile had bricks in their hands as they were chasing the victims. A third victim yelled at Harris and the juvenile to, "get off her street." Harris and the juvenile then pulled out the box cutters and threatened the woman. The victim positively identified Harris and the juvenile. Harris and the juvenile were arrested and charged with second-degree assault and carrying a dangerous weapon. |
