Charles DOH Establishes Priority Groups for H1N1 Flu Vaccine at Nov. 7 Clinic

WHITE PLAINS - 11/2/2009

Due to the temporary national shortage of the H1N1 influenza vaccine, the Charles County Department of Health will be vaccinating only individuals in priority groups at the Nov. 7 flu vaccination clinic.  Dr. C. Devadason, Charles County Health Officer says, “We will be able to provide the H1N1 vaccine to all who would like it in due time.  We ask residents to be patient as we can only provide vaccine to the priority groups at the present time as recommended by the CDC.”


The department will be following the CDC guidelines for vaccinating priority groups at the Nov. 7 Clinic from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Department of Health Offices at 4545 Crain Highway, White Plains.  The only individuals receiving the H1N1 vaccine on Nov. 7 will be:

  • Pregnant Women
  • Healthcare and emergency medical services personnel
  • Children 6 months to 24 years of age
  • Household contacts and caregivers for children 6 months of age and younger
  • Persons 25  through 64 who have health conditions associated with high risk of medical complications from influenza


Vaccine will be provided to the specified priority groups with the limited supply that is available to the department.
