Volunteer Fire Department Members Beat the Streets for EducationHuntingtown - 11/1/2006
While annual fire prevention activities normally last for one week across the nation, they lasted one month for the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, reports Assistant Chief Jonathan Riffe. Due to such an increase in the population of Calvert County and so many new schools and daycares, it would have been impossible to accomplish this all in one week. During October, Huntingtown members visited 15 facilities throughout the county (schools, daycares, etc) and educated approximately 565 children. Over 23 members of our department were able to assist and many thanks goes to them. At one point, the members were able to staff the Engine, Squad, and Ambulance all together for a school event. Our members are always willing to visit the community. If anything is needed, please feel free to call our business line at the station. www.hvfd6.org
