UPDATE: A determination was made to transport a third patient by helicopter to a nearby trauma center.

One patient is currently in the air on Trooper 7 from the Maryland State Police Aviation. The other two patients are being taken to St. Mary’s Airport to be transported by the Trooper 2 helicopter from the Maryland State Police.

The State Highway Administration has been called to the scene to provide lighting on the accident scene. The road is expected to be closed for an extended period of time for an investigation. Expect delays and use alternate routes if possible.

RIDGE, Md. — We are receiving reports of a multi-vehicle crash this evening that has at least two being sent out by helicopter at this time.

At approximately 5:53 p.m. on December 4, first responders were called to the scene in the 16000 block of Three Notch Road in Ridge, in the area of St. Michael’s School. The crash reportedly involved four vehicles, and had some patients trapped in their vehicles.

Upon arrival, crews found all four vehicles still in the roadway, with some of the vehicles sustaining serious damage. Two patients were found trapped inside their vehicle, and having sustained life-threatening injuries.

EMS on the scene have confirmed that there are a total of six patients involved in the crash.

A landing zone was established at the field by St. Michael’s School to transport one of the patients to a nearby trauma center. Other patients involved are still being assessed by EMS on the scene.
