The Feb. 16 meeting of the Chesapeake Beach Town Council featured what Beach Elementary School (BES) Principal Dr. Michael Shisler referred to as the school’s “annual pilgrimage” to town hall. Third, fourth and fifth-grade students read letters and poems to town officials and local business owners thanking them for providing the incentives to earn good grades and keep perfect attendance.

The incentives that the student “ambassadors” were referring to included passes to the Chesapeake Beach Water Park and coupons for food at a local sub shop, pizzeria and ice cream parlor.

“Thanks for donating to Beach Elementary,” said one student. “I have five water park passes at my house and I can’t wait to use them.”

The town council voted unanimously to issue and present a resolution to the Girl Scouts of America proclaiming March as Girl Scouts of America Month in Chesapeake Beach.
