At 2:23 p.m. Aug. 28, Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 8300 block of Chapel Point Road in Bel Alton for the report of a motorcycle crash.

Investigation revealed the operator, Carson Bradley Jeffers, 36, of King George, Va., was traveling south on Chapel Point Road on a 2004 Honda CBR 1000 when a bug struck his face shield.

As Jeffers attempted to clear the bug off of his shield, he drifted off the right side of the roadway and lost control.

He was ejected from the motorcycle and suffered incapacitating but non-life-threatening injuries. Jeffers was transported by ambulance to Civista Medical Center.

Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors in the crash and no charges will be filed. Officer R. Glover of the Traffic Operations Unit investigated.
