On Nov. 3 at 12: 07 p.m., officers from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources were called to the 8500 block of Neptune Lane in Bel Alton for the report of a body in the Port Tobacco River. Investigators found Barbara Ann Wood, 52, of Lexington Park, deceased near the shoreline. There were no apparent signs of trauma and no obvious signs of foul play. Family members say Ms. Wood was last seen on Nov. 2 near her parent’s home on Neptune Lane. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore will conduct an autopsy. The investigation is continuing.
