Update Oct. 15
On Wednesday, October 14th, 2015, Detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division extradited Tyreke Delante Butler with the assistance of the Maryland State Police Aviation Division and the Fulton County, Georgia Sheriff’s Office. Butler was returned to Maryland and served a Grand Jury Indictment for the attempted murder which occurred on September 11, 2015.
Update Sept. 25
On September 24, 2015, suspect Tyreke Delante Butler of Lexington Park, was taken into custody without incident in Atlanta Georgia by members of the US Marshal Capital Area Regional Fugitive
Task Force and the South Eastern Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Butler was wanted by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office on an open arrest warrant charging him with Attempted First Degree Murder following a shooting on September 11, 2015, in Lexington Park.
Update 8:25 a.m. Sept. 14
As of this time St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is still searching for suspect Tyreke Delante Butler.

Update: 8:30 p.m., Sept. 11
St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies on Sept. 11 at 11:13 a.m. responded to the area of Far Cry Road in Lexington Park for a report of an assault in progress. Upon arrival, deputies located an adult male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported via Maryland State Police Helicopter “Trooper 2” to a local area trauma center where he is continuing to receive medical treatment. Detectives and Crime Lab personnel from the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) responded to the scene and assumed the investigation, ultimately developing Tyreke Delante Butler, 24, of Lexington Park (shown) as a suspect. Butler was not located on scene and his whereabouts are currently unknown.
Butler is described as a black male approximately 5’11” and 205 lbs. He is considered ARMED and DANGEROUS. DO NOT APPROACH. If seen CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY.

The Shooting scene is contained. No ACTIVE shooter situation. SMCSO is looking for suspect at this time.
St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office has placed lookouts in several places across the county searching for the suspect.

UPDATE at 11:40 a.m.
Police in St. Mary’s County have posted a lookout for a shooter traveling in a lue or black SUV. The suspect is identified as Tyreke Bulter a black male, 23 wearing khaki shorts/ dark t shirt in Lex Pk area
Call 9 1 1 immediately if you see this vehicle and or suspect. DO NOT APPROACH. SUSPECT IS ARMED and DANGEROUS.
Lexington Park, MD – There has been a shooting reported in the Lexington Park area. Details are sketchy at this time. Reporters are en route to the scene.
