A councilman for the Town of Chesapeake Beach has confirmed that Mayor Bruce Wahl has been hospitalized in Northern Virginia after suffering an apparent heart attack this afternoon.
According to Council Vice President Patrick J. “Irish” Mahoney, Wahl was stricken while working at his job with National Public Radio. There is no further word on his condition.
Mahoney said he and Town Administrator Dr. James Parent are handling the mayor’s responsibilities for the time being.
“The most important thing right now is prayers for Bruce and his family,” said Mahoney.
