Several units responded to the 13000 block of Shlagel Road in Waldorf shortly before 1 a.m. for the report of a shed on fire.
Waldorf, Brandywine, Clinton, Hughesville and La Plata Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a one-alarm fire. It took 40 firefighters 20 minutes to get the fire under control.
The fire was discovered and reported by the shed’s owner, Anna Shlagel. Investigation revealed an electrical appliance located in the shed was the cause of the fire.
Damage to the structure is estimated to be $10,000 and damage to the contents of the shed were valued at $5,000.
